Looking for a cute and fab way to keep your hair out of your face? I think I’ve found the perfect little project! It’s one of those quick makes that solves a practical problem while still looking really put-together.

The best part? This pattern is super beginner-friendly and is the ultimate “stash-buster.” We all have those tiny balls of yarn left over from bigger projects that we can’t bear to throw away but don’t know what to do with—well, this is their time to shine!

For my version, I reached into my stash and pulled out some Monaco mercerized cotton yarn in two contrasting colors, using a 2.00mm hook. I love how the mercerized cotton gives it a slight sheen and keeps the stitches looking really crisp. Since it doesn’t take much yarn at all, feel free to go wild with your color combinations! You could do a solid neutral for a minimalist look or high-contrast colors to really make the pattern pop.

I actually finished mine off by attaching a small piece of black garter (elastic) at the ends. Since I have black hair, it’s completely hidden underneath, and it gives the headband just enough “give” to stay comfortable all day without slipping.

If you don’t have elastic on hand, don’t worry! You can easily just crochet the band long enough to go all the way around your head and join it with a simple slip stitch or a round of single crochet. Both ways look great—it just depends on the “feel” you prefer.

I really hope you enjoy whipping these up. They’re so quick to make that you might find yourself making one for every outfit!
