Did someone say popcorn? Because my color scheme for this first block totally screams it! It turned out really cute though, don’t you think?
For this one, I used 4-ply Indophil yarn from a set by Crochet Colours Ph. I decided to swap the recommended 6.00mm hook for a 5.5mm to get the tension just where I wanted it.
Speaking of tension… those front post stitches were quite the challenge! Between counting my yarn overs and trying to keep everything even, I probably frogged and repeated those stitches about three times each. It was definitely a lesson in patience, but so worth it to see that texture come to life.
Before blocking, I was a little nervous. The edges were only around 9″, the diagonal was hitting 13″, and the whole thing looked a bit wonky.
But I wasn’t about to let that stop me! I grabbed some recycled styrofoam and some sturdy sticks to create a DIY blocking board. Check out my setup:
I am definitely keeping this styro board for the rest of the MooglyCAL! After a little time on the board, it’s perfect—the wonkiness is gone, and it stretched out to a beautiful 12-inch square.
What do you think of my first block? Thank you so much for being part of this new journey with me!
