Did someone say cotton candy? This color scheme definitely screams sweet colored sugar! I instantly fell in love with how cheerful and bright it is.

It was inspired by this piece from The Club Made. I used a two-tone gradient soft Indophil yarn from Crochet Colours Ph and a 2.00mm hook.

I absolutely loved the frayed look, which is giving off those ripped jeans, rugged, and relaxed vibes. Pairing that with the cotton candy aesthetic created a contrast that is definitely interesting and unexpectedly cute!

I encountered a few hurdles though. I only ordered one of this gradient yarn in this color scheme. It was a little over 100g, but it definitely wasn’t enough! Luckily, I also ordered a pastel set that had the same shades of blue and pink, but even then, I was holding my breath worrying if I’d have enough.

I had to be smart about using the gradient yarn. I couldn’t just keep crocheting on one side then make the other because that would ruin the gradient design. So, when it was time to form the armholes, I decided to just switch to the solid pink color.

Then for the collar and sleeves, I decided to alternate leftover yarn from my Mermaid Jumpsuit project with the pastel blue from the set. I was worried the violet strands of the Under the Sea Indophil mix would clash with the soft aesthetic, but thankfully it blended in nicely and added a nice depth to the look.

I would also like to note that this was my first time crocheting a collar, and I think it worked out really well, especially considering I free-handed the whole thing! I’m super proud of that clean, crisp finish.

I tried pairing it with different skirts I usually wear and styling it tucked in or out to see which look was best on me, but I just couldn’t choose a favorite! It is definitely a cute statement piece that goes with everything.
