Have you ever had a piece of apparel that just isn’t your style?

I had this denim jacket for the longest time and I can remember a time that I liked it.. but I guess, I grew out of liking flower details. I’m not a fan of it.

Besides, this denim was so big for me that it looks like I am in a bag whenever I wear it.

It is quite cute, but I guess it ain’t my style. So I thought, instead of letting it rot further in my closet, I should try to make something out of it.

After much hesitation, I grabbed my scissors and started to think of what I’ll do.

Now, there’s no turning back. I decided to keep the pockets because ever got irritated about women’s clothing not having pockets? HAHA me too..

I was thinking of something like a bolero or a blouse.

I removed the flower details I didn’t like. I used the feather yarn (I’m not sure if that’s what it’s called) I had for quite a while. In fairness, I didn’t realize how much of that yarn I have but I had worked on multiple projects and it’s no where near empty.

I also used a sewing needle and a 1.9mm crochet hook.

I first worked on what I think was the most critical part of the project; the body. I connected it through crochet too.

At first, I though I might have added more than I intended and made it bigger but I guess it is just right. I just made 2dc, 2ch pattern at the base followed by 5 layers of 5ch, 1sc pattern.

I finished off that part with the same technique as my first layer.

Then, I worked on the edge of the piece. That includes the area where the former zipper was, the collar and the bottom edge of the piece. It was the longest layer I have.

I just made three alternating layers of 2dc and 2ch. I thought It turned out pretty cool and cute.

It was now more like my style.

Here is the final outcome:

I wasn’t able to make a proper shot of me wearing it but that’s how it looks like.. I think it turned out really great.

What do you think? Quite cool right?
