Hi everyone! How are you all doing? I hope you are all safe and happy!

Today, I’d like to share a project that I have recently worked on!

I have always dreamt of using Tshirt yarn, but it was really expensive for me as a college student. Earlier this year, I managed to save up some cash and finally got to buy some!

I was only able to buy one cake. I wanted to make a backpack out of it.

I thought I had enough yarn because, afterall, it was quite bulky. I underestimated the amount of yarn I needed for my project. I was just able to make half of the body of the backpack.

Thinking someday, I can save uup some cash again to buy some more Tshirt yarn, I just put the halfmade bag on my crochet drawer.

Now, a few months later, I had some extra cash. But, due to the quarantine protocols, I can’t go out to the the mall where I bought it. It was quite far and I am underage.

I tried to look online for the same yarn with the exact same color but, to no avail. Some shops had it, but there was no stock left.

So instead, I just tried to come up with a new concept for it; instead of making it a backpack, make it a purse!

The size of the half made purse was exactly a purse! I gathered all the materials, I think I would need and went to work on it.

Some of the materials I used were not in this picture. But, this was mostly the things I used.

I first started by sewing a zipper on the bag. I used the white mercerized yarn I have and a needle for it. I also cut up an old carton box to make it stand properly upright.

After I was done with the zipper, I thought it looked so bare, like it was missing something.

I was still planning to put on some straps on it, but still, it just looks so plain and empty.

So I thought of putting some design on it. I contemplated between flowers and butterfly, and I settled with butterfly.

This was when the power in our subdivision was cut off due to the typhoon. I was planning to searh for cute butterfly pattern that would go in one corner of the bag.

And then, I remembered something! The book I used when I was starting to learn about crocheting has butterfly patterns on it.

It was this book. My grandmother gave it to me, and it was where I learned crocheting. It has several cute butterfly patterns and I chose this one.

I also had a minor trouble when I was making the butterfly. The purple indophil yarn I used is just too bulky for the pattern.

It was 4-ply. My solution was to make it 2-ply

It was kinda hard to manage. I just separated it while I go. I used the trailing yarns of this butterfly to attach it to the bag.

It was cute and cool.. but it was way bigger than I thought it was gonna be.

Next, I attached the strap on the bag. This time, I used pink indophil yarn, but I made it bulky by turning it into 16-ply yarn.

Yep, 16-ply. I looked for the center yarn of the 2 cakes of pink indophil yarn I own, then combined both. From there, I used a 6.5mm crochet hook and did a chain.

I used this lock from an old shoe I used in one of my crochet shoes project to make it adjustable.

Lastly, I made this tassel by hand.

And, it was done!!!!

The pictures also turned out super well!!

What do you think? Pretty cool, huh?

If you’d like to purchase this purse, don’t hesitate to message me here.

As always, love lots!
