Jughead Beanie Free Crochet Pattern

A beanie that looks like what hughead Jones wore. 🙂

My friend sent me this picture and asked me to make one for his friend. I searched for patterns of it and found different versions but none of it resembles the one in the picture (or at least no free pattern). so I made this pattern.

The Jughead Beanie is a beanie that has a built-in crown in it. It is composed of 2 parts, the main hat and the crown that is worked on the edge of the main hat.

Row 19 – sl st in the edge of the “spike” until you reach the edge of the main hat.
Repeat from Row 10 until 19 around the hat, tie and cut the yarn.
Note: depending on the quality of the yarn you used, spikes might roll down and not look like a crown anymore. If this happens, wet the crown part, and iron in low heat.
And ta-daaah you now have a Jughead Beanie.

  1. the pattern says bpdc but the description says front post double crochet, which one is it. I have tried both and neither one looks right. Also curious about the 3-15 rows. when I tried to make this hat that section made it so big that it covered my head to my nose. Is it possibly done with half doubles instead of double crochet’s?

  2. Might be a total moron but do you slip stitch up the entire hat to finish it off? And I did 80 originally but it was way too big and I down sized it to 65. It is still on the big side for my 13 year old son. The peaks on the crown are dead on though, great job!!!!
