I’ve been a long-time fan of Tamara Kelly over at the Moogly blog. For years, I followed her Hooking on Hump Day (which later became The Loop Scoop), and I was so sad when it ended in 2023. That series was my go-to for finding new artists and getting that spark of inspiration whenever I was brainstorming my next project.
While I love looking at blankets, I’ve never really been one for crocheting squares—at least not the kind you have to repeat over and over for the entire project! But that’s why the Moogly CAL (Crochet Along) is so perfect; every single block is a different pattern and a different style. It keeps things fresh and interesting, which is exactly what I need to stay motivated.
Beyond the variety, I’ve always been fascinated by afghan crochet, so I’m really curious to see how I’ll manage this. To make it even more of a “personal” project, I’ll be using local Indophil yarn. Since it’s the most accessible yarn for me, it’ll be a fun challenge to adjust the patterns and gauge as I go!
I’m so excited to finally jump in because this year is a series of “firsts” for me:
- My first Moogly CAL
- My first blanket
- My first afghan
I’ll be updating this post continuously with links to my finished blocks and my experience making each one. I hope you’ll follow along on my #MooglyCAL2026 journey!
