A few years and a thousand stitches later, it’s finally done!
This has been my longest project yet, and I can’t even believe it’s finished.
A quick look back at my social media shows I started this crochet dress in 2022, making it a true three-year journey.
I worked on it in snippets, squeezed in between medium and small projects.
The dress became so heavy and bulky that it was hard to bring with me, but now that it’s finally complete, I’m so excited to share it!
The dress came together in three main parts. I started with the back piece, a large rectangle made with a striking diagonal pattern of popcorn stitches and double crochets.

With 64 rows of this highly textured stitch, this section alone took me months to finish and was definitely the most time-consuming part.
Next, I moved on to the front, which features three layers of double crochet and three layers of backpost double crochets.

Once I finished both pieces, I stitched them together along the sides, leaving openings for the armholes.
Then I wore it.
It didn’t feel right.
Something was missing.
The dress felt incomplete.
I’m still not sure what came over me, but I decided it needed extra-long sleeves.
I wanted the sleeves to echo the patterns from the dress, so I tied the look together by adding a layer of popcorn stitches between two three-layer backpost double crochets for the main body of the sleeves. I finished them with a simple pattern of two double crochets and two chains.

To tie it all together, I added a stunning edging to all the openings.
The edging is composed of three layers of five chains and a single crochet, followed by a layer of five double crochets in one stitch, which creates a beautiful, petal-like shape.

I had so much fun creating this, and the time just flew by. I even caught up on all the new episodes of One Piece!

What do you think?
What should I make next?
Or maybe what should I watch next?
Let me know
Lots of love
